photo journal: week 1

A little while back, I started a photo journal, where I would take a picture every day for a year and write about that day, Then when I look back I can see my physical and emotional changes. So I decided to share it on here. I'll slowly get up to spead with them. Here's the first week:

Day one

Mood: Tired, Indifferent, Excited

I though it was wise to start on Valentines day, because one: It's easy to remember, and two: It marks one of the best days :) Though, actually, this valentines day for me was mostly spent on a bus, on my way to North Bay to get picked up and brought to Temis where I would immediately be dropped off at the arena to watch my sister Emily play hockey. What a day :) ...oh yeah, and HAPPY VALENTINES DAY<3

*Je t'adore, je t'adore

Day Two
Mood: Happy, Content
Today I got to wear my new birthday outfit :) Except the zipper broke :( So now I need to get it fixed. Anyway, I celebrated my 19th birthday with my family today. It was funn, I had some chocolate brownies, YUM. Be jealous.
*Lights will guide you home.

Day Three

Mood: nostalgic, Happy

Had a photoshoot with my sisters today! What fun. We finished the night by watching old family vedios. I hadn't realized what a wierd kid I was until then. Oh my.

*So I got a question, do you wanna have a slumber party in my basement?

Day Four

Mood: Bored

I felt a little out of my element today, and a little bit adventurous. I think this photo speaks for itself. I'm now in Mattawa , but everyone is either working or at school, so I'm quite bored. I'm going to try and finish Rebel Angels today.

*You're black and white needs a little bit of red.

Day Five

Mood: Hopeful
I've got contacts again :) Only temporary, to see what I've been reacting to. I think it's the solution, since I don't use it with these and my eyes haven't been red at all. We'll see. I stole Ally's shirt for the day; it makes me happy cuz it's yellow ;) I like to call this tree of my mothers: the tree of life. Just because.
*& the sky never so blue

Day Six
Mood: Excited
I went to FJ (my old high school) today. It was great seeing everyone, even the teachers. It was fun catching up... made me miss high school and carnival a little bit (even though they're carnival sucked this year). But it was fun none the less. And now my sisters are coming down for the weekend :) Great day<3
*She listens like spring and she talks like June

Day Seven
Mood: Happy, yet a little sad
Today is my last full day at home, I'm headed back to Ottawa tomorrow. I had a great day with my friends, and I'm a little reluctant to head back, though I know I'll have fun and be happy to see everyone there too. But anyway, it was a very good day :)
*you and me and my medication

here's to last summer and hope for this one :)

These were taken just before I moved to Ottawa before University.
Last summer was the time of my life, and I hope that this summer can live up to it!

In these pictures I'm wearing vintage cowboy boots (given to me from a friend), a sun dress (also a gift, so i do not know whee it comes from) and a flower head band from American eagle.

we're all mad here.

I am inspired!
I was thinking about next year, and how I'll be doing some photography courses in university, and realised that my portfolio is lacking. And so I've been inspired to hold a photoshoot inspired by Alice in wonderland :)
I saw tim burton's movie in the theaterof course and had the idea back then, and only now am I completely set on it. I will hold it in a couple of weeks, I've maped out a plan and studied my inspirations, which are:
(NOT) the movie {Although I *did* love it}
*my 2008 prom dress
*Lewis carroll's book
*Gwen Stefani
*Mia Wasikowska

I bought this dress online at "nexteve.com" they have amazingly beautiful and *cheap* dresses, each one unique, I love it. Anyways. I'd bought it for my boyfriend's prom that year. As I was watching the Alice in Wonderland movie I immediately thought of this dress.
It will be used as one of the dresses that Alice will wear in my shoot.

I love the little details on this dress, mainly the bow. I love bows<3

Basically, I'd use any excuse to wear it again, and I've found one!

Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland", an obvious classic and my guide to my photoshoot. I've decided to shoot the photos as though the story is being told through them, and I'm going to use the novel as a guide line. I am so very excited to do this!

I just had to add my favorite quote from the book: "We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."

Next on my list of inspirations for this shoot; Gwen Stefani and her music vedio for :whatcha waiting for? It has an Alice in Wonderland theme and I'm determined to channel some of Gwen's uniqueness and style in the photoshoot!

And finally the actress who plays Alice herself in Tim Burton's film: Mia Wasikowska. Not her part in the movie really, but her shoot in teen vogue and a quote as well:
"everybody has thier own idea of who she is. So [Tim Burton and I] discussed, very early on, just being happy with her being our Alice...making her my own"
-Mia Wasikowska
Which is what I plan to do! I've already started on props and costumes, I'm half way there!

finally!

My dress has arrived! But good news hasn't :(

First: The dress :)

I saw it on e-bay and immediately sent the link to my mom hinting at an easter present. She'd gotten it for me, but it took weeks and weeks for it to finally come in (unnecessary complications and all that) Anyway, it was going to be used for the dinner party I had planned, cooked and bought for (the "white party") but it was cancelled. So instead, some of us took some pictures in our new white clothes.

The dress is an off white lace vintage and is my new favorite :) I'd even gotten countless accessories to match. I will definately find the time to rescheduel the white party sometime this summer. There was far too much work gone into it to have it cancelled completely.

Pearls and my prom ring from last year...and my dress of course :)

I'd gotten these silver edible balls from bulk barn to decorate some of the cupakes (there was also flowers and coconut that we has used) They were adorable, it was a shame they went to waste.

And the bad news? Today was my last day with Justin. He's leaving for the summer for work and I won't see him for over three months. This summer isn't looking up really, I don't yet have a job, everyone else does or is at school so I'm usually alone, and now Justin is leaving. I miss Ottawa already!
